Chris Paul Injures Ankle, Leaves Game
November 13th, 2009 | by Hunter Ansley |
Chris Paul was helped off of the court by teammates in the third quarter of Friday night’s tilt with the Blazers in New Orleans.
Paul apparently injured his left ankle, though at the time the severity of this possible disaster is not known. The crowd became so quiet that you probably could have literally heard a single hornet as the point guard landed awkwardly on Joel Przybilla’s foot. It’s the same ankle that was twisted in an earlier loss to Los Angeles.
The Hornets were already down 10 (62-52) at the time of the injury, and Paul was far from his vintage self through the third stanza with only three points, eight assists, and five boards.
We’ll keep you posted as soon as the word is out, but for now this has been a week to forget in the Big Easy basketball scene, with the firing of coach Byron Scott yesterday, Paul’s recent injury and the University of New Orleans’ loss to the Georgia Bulldogs — yeah I know no one cares, but here’s hoping bad things really do come in threes like tennis balls and condoms. More when we know.
UPDATE: The Hornets ended up losing this one… 86-78. We can just count that as part of the third bad thing.
